This book was originally printed in 1940 by: COWARD-MCCANN, INC. It was prepared from the original manuscript given by Francies Parke Custic to Martha Washingtion. It presents the "rules" which brought fame to American's 1st Lady as housewife and hostess throughout her life. It contains recipes thoroughly modernized. In the introduction the author gives interesting and entertaining accounts of the Washintons and their domestic problems. The book also contains three reproductions in grafone: portraits of Martha Washington; and numerous decorations in black and white. It is printed on water-resistant paper, and bound in washable cloth with lovely decorative endpapers.
