Ceramics at Odessa: A Collections Workshop
Recent collection cataloguing efforts have introduced two experts in their respective areas to the ceramics collections: James Koterski and Keith Adams. They have agreed to participate in a collection workshop that will provide participants with an unusual opportunity to learn about and engage directly with important and interpretively beneficial objects. Accordingly, staff will bring many examples of redware, stoneware, creamware, white earthenware, Rockinghamware, and some porcelains to the Bank Building where our experts will address materials, fabrication techniques, matters of design, condition, and other aspects of identification and interpretation of 18th and 19th century wares.
Attendance in the workshop will be limited to ensure that everyone can participate fully. Questions and follow-up discussions will be the order of the afternoon. Enrollment in this workshop is first come, first served, and will be confirmed in the order in which registrations are completed. Please notify Historic Odessa of your intention to participate to ensure a space in this program! To register please, call Jennifer Kostik, 302-378-4119; fee: $35, $30 for HOF Members.
Collections of the Historic Odessa Foundation include many more objects than those on display in the historic houses. Most are now included on the new publicly accessible collection database, readily available on the Foundation’s homepage via the “search the collection” button.
