Common Ground: Landscapes, City Views, and Quiet Rooms

Corpus is a Filipino-American painter born in Manila, Philippines and lives in New Castle County, Delaware.  He began painting at a very young age and apprenticed with his uncle, noted Filipino National Artist Federico Aguilar Alcuaz.  Corpus earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from St. Josephs University and a Masters of Art degree from the University of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia.

His oil paintings focus on landscapes, cityscapes, and interior scenes. He is drawn to everyday scenes because they reveal the character through subtle shifts of color and illumination. Known for his attention to light and how it defines space and mood, Corpus creates images grounded in observation and shaped by the places he has visited.  In other words, his focus becomes how the light changes a familiar setting and translates that experience into form.  Often his approach combines realism with loose, intentional brushwork that leaves room for gesture and atmosphere.  Come visit us in Odessa and be pleased with these wonderfully artistic images during the early summer season.
