Comments
Towel racks (or stands) became common in the second half of the 19th century as indoor plumbing became more common. This example displays the kinds of turnings the typified late 19th century work. The rack is painted red on all surfaces, making wood identification difficult. Gold stenciled rosettes are painted at the square joins and on the outsides of the feet.
