Comments
Begun as a boarding house in 1879, the Hotel Traymore was rebuilt and substantially enlarged following severe storms in 1884 and 1889. By 1898, it had grown to become the largest hotel in Atlantic City. In 1915, the hotel featured a new, large addition. The image in the spoon bowl appears to show the hotel before 1915, indicating a likely manufacturing date for the spoon of 1898. The hotel was demolished in 1972.
The spoon has the crowned head of Neptune at the tip. An anchor with chain coiled around the shaft decorate the handle.
