Inscription

“ALTOONA” is in the bowl. “STERLING” is stamped into the back of the bowl near the handle.

Comments

The demitasse spoon has a Y shaped handle with a twisted half near the bowl and two arms each composed of three stacked foliated C scrolls.  The bowl has the name Altoona diagonally across it.  Altoona, in the west-center of Pennsylvania, was established in 1849 by the Pennsylvania Railroad to serve the railroad, notably where it crossed the challenging Allegheny Mountains.

The spoon has no maker’s marks.
