Provenance
Ex coll. Mrs. E. Tatnall (Mary Corbit) Warner. The accession number suggests that this foot warmer was on site from the early decades of the 20th century. It is possible that it was used by Mrs. Mary Corbit Warner, but there is no specific evidence to that effect. It may have been added to the objects on site by subsequent individuals engaged in operating the David Wilson Mansion.
Comments
The metal foot warmer, upholstered in carpeting, was made for use in an early automobile or horse-powered carriage. It has an inclined top surface to provide a comfortable place for the user’s feet. A metal handle allows it to be carried. The casing surrounds a metal tray that opens from one end. Holes in the ends and one side provide for air circulation. Name plates identify the maker.
