Comments
The slender, cylindrical crochet hook is made of bone. One tip is carved with a small hook to allow the user to catch a yarn loop and pull it through the stitched material. A silver band at the center of the hook is engraved with the initials of the donor and recipient as well as the date 1860, presumably when the gift was made. Mrs. Mary C. Warner (1848-1923) received the gift when she was still named Mary Cowgill Corbit and about 12 years old. To date, research has not identified the donor.
