Comments

The spoon has a large, oval bowl and a short handle that terminates in a complex handle tip featuring a bird and a cartouche.  The bowl has a repoussé pastoral image of a young man kneeling and extending his hand to an animal, perhaps a sheep.  A multi-floored building is in the background, and a vegetable or fruit composition is below. A band of beads, separated from one another, encircles the image inside a wavy edge.

The spoon is similar in form and decoration to accession no. 1971.1198.
