Comments
This unusual tool appears to be some kind of marking device. It fits the hand well. The end has a wheel with a serrated or sawtooth edge. Running it along a material such as leather would leave a trail of small marks, perhaps for decoration.
A cast brass ovoid ball with a mid-ring is peened in place. It shows no evidence of being cast in halves. Its design resembles larger fittings on andirons and forms a basis for identifying where and when it might have been made.
