Comments
The molded tea pot has a rectangular body with rounded corners. It stands on a molded foot, The lower half of the body has bold reeding as does the lid, which is missing its finial. An S shaped spout is opposite a C shaped handle with a spur near the top. The teapot is covered in a dark—almost black—glaze with high iridescence.
Teapots of this form have been identified as originating in Philadelphia, with the caveat that they likely copied English forms. For additional information, see Deborah Miller, “The Search for the Green-Glaze Potter of Philadelphia,” Ceramics in America 2019.
