Comments

The tea cup and saucer each have faint ribbing molded into the bodies.  The rims are scalloped.  Decoration is of Chinese landscapes with bodies of water and mountains in the distance, all contained within spiked borders.  Wider cross-hatched borders rim the saucer and the inside of the cup. All of the work is executed in shades of black and gray—work often called “encre de chine,” or Chinese ink, likening it to ink drawings.  Some gilding is incorporated into the decorative bands.
