Comments
This flat, triangular-shaped scoop with an ornamental handle suggests a sugar scoop, although this example was not intended for use. Instead, it displays imagery suggestive of Holland. Inside the scoop, a Dutch milkmaid walks in from a field bearing a wood shoulder yoke from which buckets are hung on each side. A cow stands in the distance. Above the scoop, the handle has a short, pierced section. It supports a large sculpture of a single-masted sailboat with two jibs, one mounted on the tip of a bowsprit. An individual sits in the stern in front of a large rudder.
