Comments
The spoon, with an ornate handle decorated with many C scrolls, has a plain bowl bearing the name Rumford Falls. The dramatic falls, on the Androscoggin River in Maine, are in Rumford, a small town midway between Portland and the Canadian border to the northwest. Access to the town must have been a challenge until a paper manufacturing mill was established there in 1893. Rail connection followed, as did prosperity for the town.
