Comments

The blue and white shield at the tip of the handle bears a Maltese cross.  The enamel image inside the round spoon bowl shows the interior of Saint John’s Conventual (meaning it served both as a bishop’s seat and the main church for a monastic order) Cathedral in Valletta, Malta.  It was built between 1573 and 1578; the interior was redecorated in the 17th century in the high Baroque style.
