Comments
The spoon has a round bowl with a beaded edge. "ANTWERPEN" (Dutch for Antwerp) is above a coat-of-arms forming a dense design within the round bowl. A large sculptural figure is at the tip of the spoon handle is taken from the Brabo Fountain in Antwerp, Belgium. The bronze fountain sculpture is of the city’s mythical founder Silvius Brabo, a Roman soldier, throwing the severed hand of the mythical giant Druon Antigoon into the Scheldt River.
The twisted handle occurs on other Antwerp souvenir spoons. This one terminates in a sphere.
