Comments
This finely made scale has a brass upright affixed to the top of a veneered case containing a single drawer. The drawer is fitted for various types of weights, including some measured in ounces, others in pennyweights, and yet others in scruples. Some of the weights are shaped as small cups, suggesting that they may have been used to weigh grains of some sort. The variety of weights indicates this scale was intended for a variety of uses.
