Comments
This little covered cup with a handle was made for table use, specifically for serving custard desserts. Decoration around the outside of the cup shows the customary Chinese scene of Chinese buildings in landscapes separated by water and having two mountains in the distance. The lid repeats a distinctive cluster of buildings depicted on the cup. It has a blue band with dark blue details below a row of angled scalloped leaves, the two elements forming a common early 19th century border on Chinese porcelains made for export.
