Comments
The plate, with a shallow scalloped rim, is richly decorated in pink, green, orange, yellow red, and blue flowers, a range of colors commonly called "famille rose." Although the color palette is well-known, the flower detail and arrangement is not. The dominant flower in the plate well is not the usual pink carnation, but appears to be an off-center lotus. (See, for example, accession nos. 1968.809, 2024.32, and 2024.65.) Otherwise, the alternating sprays of flowers around the rim as well as the double ring around the center and the band painted around the rim edge associate this plate with several others made for the export market.
