Comments
This thick-walled, molded, and pierced platter of rectangular form has large scalloped shaped sides. In addition to piercings in the corners, the body is painted with green and blue cornflower sprigs. Handles at opposite ends are foliate-shaped.
A similarly shaped and decorated fruit bowl (accession no. 1977.551.4) may have accompanied this platter. Two other platters from the same mold but unpainted are nos. 1977.551.1 and 1977.551.2. Their measurements are slightly smaller, which may represent a different consistency of the slip.
