The music shelf or rack is tenoned and pegged together. It hangs from the top crosspiece by wire cotter-pins. The crosspiece joins the upright with a wide tenon that is pegged in place. The crosspiece is tenoned into the rectangular base board and held in place by wood pegs toe-nailed from the underside. A rectangular arm originally hung from a wire cotter-pin mounted on the underside of the frame. The opposite end fit into one of ten rectangular holes cut into the surface of the upright to position the angle of the shelf.
