Comments

This jar likely functioned well for pickling and otherwise storing food.  Its sharply out-flaring rim allows a cover to be tied on securely, perhaps after inserting a wood lid of some kind.  As for aesthetics, the jar is less successful.  Its shape is generally cylindrical, but it is uneven.  The surface as all sorts of discoloration and accretions, likely due to extraneous materials in the kiln when the pot was fired.  Given all of the eccentricities exhibited, this jar likely didn't travel very far from its place of origin.

A dark brown glaze coats the inside of the jar.
