Comments
The oval serving platter and liner are narrow and seem particularly suitable for fish. The separate liner, which rests on a ridge in the side walls, is pierced with numerous round holes that allow any meat or fish juices to run off into the bottom of the platter.
Both platter and liner are delicately decorated in underglaze blue. The design divides into four quadrants around a central circular motif, an organization commonly referred to as “Fitz-Hugh” pattern. FitzHugh designs can incorporate very specific symbols and images, but here they are generic. The wide blue border is a geometric band.
The undersides of the liner and the platter are not glazed.
