Comments
The two pink luster cups and their accompanying saucers are all of the same pattern, identified as “62” on the outside bottom of each saucer. This pattern features a light pink band with a darker pink broken line in the center. Below, the decoration changes to repeated motifs of stylize flowers and grasses separated from one another by a large partial solid-pink leaf with lobed edges. Striping accents the cups and the saucers. Although each cup and saucer bears the same pattern number, they are clearly decorated by different artisans. Moreover, cup and saucer 2023.21.1 is larger than cup and saucer 2023.21.2. Such differences are common among sets of Staffordshire-made ceramics and document the large and complex scale of the various potteries.
