Comments
Pink lusterware was among the most popular of Staffordshire ceramics made for local consumption and for export. It was very popular in the United States. These cups and saucers are decorated with a highly stylized cottage in a wooded landscape. The trees have crescents forming their branches and leaves. (See cups and saucers, accession no. 2023.18, for a similar treatment of trees.) The picket fences in front are more realistic.
The cast handles have particularly prominent—and pointed—thumbpieces. (See cups 2023.18 for similar handles.)
