Comments
The Canton-decorated cup and saucer exhibit the quickly executed decoration typical of those export wares. A pagoda and another buildings dominate the saucer. Two mountains are in the distance and separated from the foreground by an abstract design meant to convey water. A simple border of light blue and white, the white marked by inclined slashes, run around the plate rim and around the inside of the cup. The handle on the cup has a spiked thumbpiece.
This cup and saucer are similar to accession no. 1971.770, although simpler in design.
