Provenance
The crock was purchased from the McNatt house sale on Main St., Odessa, because of its similarity to accession no. 1959.3832. Philadelphia-born Helen W. McNatt was 97 years old when she died in 2014. She and her husband Harry (1916-2014), born at his family’s farm in nearby Earleville, Maryland, graduated from Middletown High School.
Comments
The large, ovoid-shaped crock has a thick, round rim and applied lug handles at opposite sides. A score ring circles the crock at handle height. Black glaze is applied to the inside only.
A similar and slightly larger crock is accession no. 1959.3832.
