“WEDGWOOD” and “8” are stamped into the inside of the foot.

The bottom of the foot has a very small chip.

Provenance

The compote was purchased from G. W. Thomas Antiques of Middletown, Delaware.

Comments

The simple, clean-lined compote has a half-ovoid-shaped bowl mounted on a pedestal base that flares outward to the similarly oval shaped foot, marked by a dark brown stripe.  Another stripe marks the top of the pedestal base, and large and small stripes run around the inside and outside of the rim.  The compote is otherwise undecorated clear glaze on the warm creamware body.
