Comments

The molded, straight-sided coffee cup represents an early drinking form that simply remained in use for generations.  This example displays fashionable decoration in pink bands highlighted with pink luster (lustre) stripes and details.  The luster glazes were made by adding metallic salts in specific concentrations to the glaze, which required a separate firing in the kiln.
