The shaft has a casting flaw on the swelled center portion.

Provenance

The pair of candlesticks was purchased from the Kitty Knight House in Galena, Maryland.

Comments

The candlestick, which is one of a pair with accession no. 2015.1, has a short, solid shaft that screws into the base.  The base is slightly domed with an angled, bordering side wall.  It is a modern reproduction of an earlier candlestick form.
