Comments
In addition to many features of 1750s and 60s Birmingham candlesticks, this handsome pair introduces movement in the design by swirled gadrooning in the base and the top of the central trumpet turning and a scalloped edge of the bobeche at the top. Placement of knops in the shaft are more common, as is the cylindrical candle socket with a mid-rib.
The candlestick shafts are cast in halves, and the undersides of the bases show evidence of skimming.
