Comments

The candlestick exhibits several neoclassical features including the inverted columnar shaft and reeded-urn candle socket.  The candlestick is a heavy casting; period examples tended to be lighter because of the greater comparative expense of the metal.  In design, the candlestick displays has several molded details, such as along the edge of the integral bobeche, and several rows of beading.

A large-headed screw or bolt holds the base to the bottom of the shaft.  This may be a repair.  If it is original, it represents additional evidence of the late time-frame for the stick.  It obscures the manner of peening the shaft to the base.
