Condition Notes

The candlestick has been electrified.  A small notch was cut in one side of the base to accommodate the electrical cord.

Comments

The candlestick features a shaft with a prominent cone in the center and rings and reels above and below.  The candle socket curves inward at the sides.  The base is rectangular, rather than square.  The shaft was not cast in halves.  The casting is fairly heavy, and the underside of the base appears to have been skimmed to remove excess brass.

A 1971 accession record describes this candlestick as a lamp base, indicating that it had been altered later to provide that function.
