Comments
This candlestick has an octagonal candle socket with no drip pan. The octagonal theme continues through the inverted baluster shaft and to the base, which is square with chamfered corners. The candle socket has a hole in one side to allow a sharp object to be inserted to lever up the candle stub, a task that ejectors accomplished in later candlesticks. The shaft shows no evidence of having been cast in halves. The casting itself is relatively heavy.
