Comments
Each of the two cast-iron planters (or cachepot) has a pot with flaring sidewalls that fits into a separate base, also with flaring sidewalls. Three cast ring-shaped feet are soldered in place on the bottoms of each base. The pots are made of sheet iron soldered along a vertical seam.
The cachepots are painted white, now darkened with age. Each has the same detailed and finely executed polychromed decoration showing a colorful red, yellow and grayish-blue bird within a grape vine and near a small cluster of bluish grapes. The painted image is very rococo (or rococo revival) in character.
