Comments

This wrought-iron broiler, called a gridiron, has a rectangular, fixed grille made of seven bars peened through end bars.  The bar farthest from the long, flat handle with a hanging hole at the end, is like a blade, rather than a rectangular bar.  Its feet splay outward and do not curl at the end, as do those near the handle.

This broiler is similar to accession no. 1959.3848, except differences in measurements, the shape of the handle (that narrows near the grille on this broiler), and the end bar farthest from the handle.
