Comments

The pair of bowls has a thickened rim and stand on a shallow, almost non-existent foot ring.  The pair appears to have been made in the same mold as another bowl, accession no. 1959.4168.  It has craquelure in the glaze whereas this pair does not.  Also, the glaze on that bowl has areas of iridescence, again missing on the these.  All three of these bowls have a faint scallop-like band around the outside top of the body.  The free-form mottled glaze on each bowl of the pair is very similar to the other in color and how and where applied.
