The basket is missing two handles positioned on opposite sides.

Comments

The basket is made of twisted rye straw roping coiled into a shallow basket with outward canted sides. Narrow pieces of splint are woven into the coils and hold them in place.  Inspection of the uppermost length of roping shows where handles are now missing from opposite sides.
