Comments

The basin or bowl has straight sides that angle outward, ending in a wide-beaded rim formed by an incised line on the outside and an ogee-molded profile inside.  The inside only is covered with a black-speckled glaze. The outside is painted with a thin redware slip, imparting a darker red color.  The redware from which this bowl is made seems to be softer than usual.

This basin or bowl is almost identical to accession no. 1971.748.  The only visible difference is that the score line near the rim is about 1/8-inch lower, creating a wider bead.
