Comments

The basin has a flaring rim with six shallow lobes.  It stands on a cylindrical foot.  The bowl is painted in two shades of blue.  A wide blue rim encloses five repeats around the inside walls incorporating blue petal-like sections separated by white spaces with three blue dots.  A floral design in the center of the bowl has four repeats.  The outside has a wide floral band repeating motifs from the inside.  A single band encircles the foot.

The Wood name was well-known among Staffordshire potteries, given the successes of Ralph Wood, Ralph Wood II, and Ralph Wood III.  Enoch Wood was the nephew of Ralph I.  The particular impressed WOOD mark on this basin has not been identified.
