Exhibit: Feeling Inspired: The Fiber Art of Charlese Phillips
Encounter the wonderfully crafted and colorful fiber artworks created by the talented Delaware artist Charlese Phillips on display at the Historic Odessa Foundation’s Visitor Center.
These multifaceted artworks focus around color, texture and identity. Phillips explores her creativity through many artistic mediums including fiber, painting, photography, weaving, macramé, and more. The idea of combining paintings and weavings together brings her artworks to life and allows her formal training and self-taught creative skills to blossom. In constructing each work, she hopes to connect with and inspire viewers.
As a Maryland native, Phillips graduated from Salisbury University with a BA in Fine Arts, focusing in ceramics. She then went on to receive her MEd degree from Wilmington University. She is also the recipient of a 2023 Individual Artist Fellowship from the Delaware Division of the Arts. Currently Phillips is employed as a high school art educator teaching digital photography.
