ARTISAN CRAFT WORKSHOP SERIES: Floorcloths
Immerse yourself in a monthly American craft workshop series where participants will create an artform using traditional materials and methods taught by experts in each craft to include baskets, bandboxes, hooked rugs, marbleized paper, and floorcloths. Take home a wonderful hand crafted keepsake.
Woven cotton fabric, carpet tape and paint will be used to create a unique and decorative, hand washable floor cloth. Each floorcloth will be about 2’x 3’. A partially prepped cloth will be provided for each participant. Base color painting and design will be worked on during the workshop. Participants should come in “painting” clothes as the paint used is permanent. Designs will be freeform, stenciled, or stamped, depending on the participants’ preference and ability. Some basic artistic experience is suggested.
Colleen Teifenthal has created art all her life. She went to college and earned a degree in Illustration and Advertising. She is fortunate in that what she does for her work is something that she loves. She works with paint, mixed media, and fiber art. Colleen also works in traditional 2 and 3-D formats. She enjoys the challenges of repurposing and upcycling materials to create something new, giving items a second chance to be useful. She likes to create things that are beautiful, whimsical, and enjoyable for the viewer. Creating art that also serves a function adds another level of creativity into some of her pieces. Lastly she enjoys embracing the natural world around her and finds great inspiration in the woods and water that surrounds her.
Cost is $125 which includes all materials.
