Delaware Author Book Signing: Roger A. Martin
Meet and greet the celebrated Delaware author, Roger Martin. The former Delaware State Senator will present some remarks and autograph his latest book, A History of Delaware Through Its Governors, 1776-2008.
Roger A. Martin, well-known Delaware historian and longtime state senator (1972-1994), was born in Delmar, MD, on February 27, 1934. He grew up in southern Delaware and graduated from Laurel High School and the University of Delaware, where he earned a B.A. in political science and German and an M.A. in German. Senator Martin devoted much of his career to teaching history and foreign languages at Middletown High School. As a senator, he served under Governors Tribbitt, du Pont, Castle and Carper.
Delaware History Presentation
Long an avid Delaware historian, Senator Martin is the author of numerous works devoted to various aspects of the state's history. Among them are the first edition of this volume, A History of Delaware Through Its Governors, 1776-1984 (1984), Tales of Delaware (1991), Delaware's Medal of Honor Winners (1993), Memoirs of the Senate (1995), Elbert N. Carvel (for the Delaware Heritage Commission, 1997), Sherman W. Tribbitt (also for the Delaware Heritage Commission, 1998), In Our Midst--Delaware Vignettes in Pictures and Prose (2000), and Delawareans in Congress: The House of Representatives, Volume One--1789-1900 (2003).
Senator Martin and his wife, Adele, have two daughters and four grandchildren.
