Holiday glow all ready to go

The Historic Houses of Odessa open Thursday, (November 18, 2010) a week before they have in other years, with one home decorated in a Mary Poppins theme.
"We find that the Thanksgiving weekend is a big weekend. People are looking for things to do with the families and get into the holiday spirit," said Debbie Buckson of the Historic Houses of Odessa.
Organizers hope the early opening will benefit the community by giving them more time to see the houses and also make the holidays a little less crazy at the sites. Fifteen volunteers devoted the past weekend to finishing wreaths for the buildings. While decorating the houses is a yearlong project, the last week is always a rush.
