Historic Craft Series: Calligraphy

Learn how to create beautiful calligraphy at this workshop designed for those who are interested in adapting their writing to create future personalized projects.  Each letter in the foundational hand will be demonstrated by an experienced calligrapher and practiced by the participant.  This hands-on experience will lead to a final project of the participant’s choice or request.

Historic Craft Series: Basket Making

Learn how to weave an amazing basket with one of Delaware’s master basket makers, Denise Bendelewski of Magnolia Baskets.  Denise has recently been selected as one of the twelve finalists in the Delaware By Hand Masters Exhibition in Dover.  Denise will instruct participants all they need to know while experiencing this hands-on historic craft.

Exhibit: Dennis Young, Studio and Plein Air Artist

On display for the first time in Odessa is an exhibit of the colorful pastel drawings and oil paintings of the beloved artist from New Castle, Delaware, Dennis Young. His plein air (outdoor) artwork of regional scenes will fill the walls of the HOF Visitor’s Center. Young’s artwork has been frequently juried into art galleries and events though out the Mid-Atlantic States and beyond. His artwork can be found in numerous public and private collections.
