Corbits: A Genteel Quaker Family

Corbits: A Genteel Quaker Family
History comes alive! The Historic Odessa’s school program offers educators a well documented, interactive and hands-on sampler of 18th century life in colonial Odessa. Although designed specifically with Delaware teachers in mind, our program is broad enough to accommodate schools from other states, home schoolers, youth organizations and summer camps.
Can you imagine the life of a child of the 18th century gentry living in a grand Georgian mansion on the banks of the Appoquinimink River?  Envision eating supper in the dining room and following the etiquette of the day; explore the bedchambers of the Corbit children and learn what was expected of Quaker boys and girls.  Students will tour the National Historic Landmark Corbit-Sharp House searching for family objects while completing an 18th century scavenger hunt and learning about everyday life in this genteel household.
